On 24 June, PRAGMA welcomed 250+ investors, operators, policymakers, technology leaders and industry executives to Nasdaq for the second annual New York Energy Investment Series.
The Series brought together senior decision-makers from across the energy ecosystem for a day of practical discussions examining the investment opportunities and challenges shaping the future of energy. The discussions reflected how the industry's priorities are changing. The question is no longer what demand might look like in the future, but how we finance, build and deliver the infrastructure needed to meet it.
The programme was structured around three dedicated workshops, each examining a different aspect of today's energy investment landscape.
The first workshop focused on capital allocation, bringing together family offices, institutional investors and investment managers to discuss portfolio strategy, private market opportunities and the changing role of energy within institutional portfolios.
The second workshop explored upstream oil and gas, with discussions centred on capital discipline, exploration, M&A, financing strategies and the outlook for investment across the sector.
The third workshop examined the growing intersection of power, natural gas and AI, covering electricity demand, infrastructure bottlenecks, permitting reform, grid expansion and the role of natural gas in supporting a reliable, affordable and secure energy system.
A consistent theme emerged throughout the day: demand is not the challenge. Delivery is. From capital formation and permitting to transmission, generation and fuel supply, the industry's ability to execute will ultimately determine how quickly the next phase of energy investment can be realised.
