PRAGMA Workshop — 12 November, Net Zero Technology Centre, Aberdeen
PRAGMA hosted a half-day emissions workshop in Aberdeen, in collaboration with Shepherd Safety Systems and Score Group, bringing together operators, technology providers, and industry specialists to assess how the North Sea is approaching the rapidly evolving landscape of methane management.
As regulatory expectations intensify and measurement technologies advance, participants agreed the basin is entering a pivotal phase. The EU Methane Regulation, UK policy pressures, and growing scrutiny from investors and stakeholders are reshaping the operational and strategic realities for operators across the region.
Three threads shaped the discussion: uncertain regulation, maturing measurement solutions, and increasingly complex data environments. While fixed-wing aircraft, drones, and on-asset sensors have strengthened operators’ technical capabilities, the challenge now lies in reconciling diverse datasets and building credible, consistent reporting frameworks ahead of the 2027 MRV deadline.
Culture and collaboration also featured strongly. Delegates highlighted the need to embed emissions awareness across operations, strengthen cross-functional ownership, and leverage basin-wide cooperation to ensure practical, scalable progress.
The resulting Key Takeaways Report distils the most important lessons, emerging trends, and forward priorities discussed during the workshop, offering a clear view of where the industry stands — and what it must address next.
